NFLPA Award Recipient, Mark Rypien

Mark Rypien is a former professional football quarterback and Super Bowl MVP, helping to win Super Bowl XXVI for the Washington Redskins.

His life was turned upside down in August 1998 with the death of his son, Andrew at the age of 3 from a brain tumor. It was an unimaginable loss, and started Mark on the path he has been walking ever since. He has traveled the world raising pediatric cancer awareness and funds for the Rypien Foundation, which identifies and funds quality, community-based non-profit organizations that provide direct service and support to children and families battling cancer.

The impact of Rypien’s generosity has been felt by countless children and families in times of crisis.  His inspirational story of facing personal loss and turning it into a mission to serve others has touched all of us as Georgetown Lombardi and the NFLPA.

Congratulations, Mark!
